Featured: The Bear 100 (Logan, UT)
There are 350 runners who will line up at the starting line in Logan, Utah, on Friday, September 26, at the 27th running of the Bear 100. The classic mountain race begins in Logan Dry Canyon and traverses the Wasatch-Cache National Forest before crossing state lines and finishing in Fish Haven, Idaho, at Bear Lake. On course, runners can expect a combination of rugged single-track trails and jeep roads, over 22,000 feet of elevation gain and loss, and beautiful fall foliage highlighted by vibrant red maples and golden aspens. Participants have 36 hours to complete the challenge and earn their 2026 Hardrock 100 qualifier, with special buckles awarded to runners who finish in under 30 hours and under 24 hours. Featured: FlatRock (Independence, KS)
The Flatrock 50k is the oldest and first trail ultramarathon in Kansas (est. 1995) and takes place northeast of Independence on the challenging and rocky Elk River Trail. The 50k runners will set off at 6 a.m. on Saturday and attempt to complete a technical out-and-back course that traverses limestone bluffs, ravines, dense forests and streams, and features just over 2,300 feet of climbs and descents. Along the way, they’ll have support and supplies from seven aid stations (five fully stocked) and will have 12 hours to complete the course for an official finish. The 10th annual Yeti 100 Mile Endurance Run kicks off from the Meadows Sports Complex in the southwest corner of Virginia. The “OG Yeti” features a runnable course on the Virginia Creeper National Recreation Trail, the country’s only national scenic rail-to-recreation trail, and showcases charming Appalachian landscapes with rolling fields and farmlands, beautiful fall colors, and numerous wooden trestle bridges offering brilliant views of the surrounding rivers and valleys. Featured: Vermont 50 (Brownsville, VT)
The 32nd Vermont 50 Race (50-mile and 50-kilometer runs) will be held on September 28, 2025, at Ascutney Outdoors in West Windsor, Vermont. Known for its great volunteers, supportive community, and classic Vermont scenery, Vermont 50 has become an annual favorite for veteran and beginner ultramarathoners alike. Participants in both distances can expect hilly and rolling courses with a mix of single-track trails, gravel roads and jeep trails. The 50-mile runners have 12 hours to tackle 8,900 feet of elevation gain, while 50k participants must navigate 5,600 feet of gain and loss in under 10.5 hours. Proceeds from the Vermont 50 event benefit Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports, “a nationally recognized organization that empowers people of all abilities through inclusive sports and recreational programming regardless of ability to pay.” Read more about the race here.

Hosted by Outport Reach, a non-profit whose mission is “to connect Outport Newfoundland through trail running,” the Rockcut Ultramarathon (50k) takes place on the breathtaking coastal trails of Newfoundland’s Twillingate Island. Race highlights include endless views of the rugged North Atlantic coastline, running through historic outport fishing communities and the opportunity to experience the natural beauty and rich maritime history of the picturesque town of Twillingate. On course, runners can expect varied terrain including single-track trails, rocky beaches, cow paths, boggy stretches and around 5,300 feet of elevation gain and loss. Read more.
