Close to 350 runners will toe the line at the 45th annual Wasatch 100 on Friday, September 5, in Kaysville, Utah. Known for being one of the most challenging 100-mile mountain ultramarathons in the United States, Wasatch boasts over 24,000 feet of climbing, 23,000 feet of descent and altitudes that range from 5,000 to 10,400 feet above sea level. The point-to-point course begins in East Mountain Wilderness Park and traverses the beautiful and rugged central Wasatch Mountains all the way to the pavilion at Soldier Hollow in Wasatch Mountain State Park. On course, runners will have to navigate a variety of terrain, including single-track trails, game trails, scree fields, jeep roads and technical rocky sections, as well as the possibility of extreme weather conditions and encounters with local wildlife. Entrants have 36 hours to complete the 100-mile course for an official finisher’s buckle and 2026 Hardrock 100 qualifier. Live tracking here. Read more.

First run in 1991, the Superior 100 is the ninth-oldest 100-mile ultramarathon in the US, and one of the classic Midwest ultras. This year’s 100-mile event kicks off on Friday, September 5, at Gooseberry Falls State Park and takes runners on a scenic yet arduous tour of the remote Sawtooth Mountain Range, as they attempt to reach Caribou Highlands Lodge on Lutsen Mountain via the Superior Hiking Trail. Along the way, runners will be challenged by technical trails, creek crossings, endless rolling hills and the chance of high heat and humidity. For their efforts, runners will be awarded with stunning views of Lake Superior and the surrounding landscape, and a shiny Superior 100 buckle for all sub-38-hour finishers. In addition to the 100-mile race, the Superior Fall Trail Races also feature a 50-mile ultra that takes place on Saturday. Race proceeds help benefit the Superior Hiking Trail Association.
