The American Heroes run started in 2010 by David Clark as a way of commemorating the tragic events of 9/11. The race started as a very small group of friends running for 9 hours and 11 minutes and has grown into a special run shared by thousands of runners from all over the world. David is still the race director and is on course at all times on race day. Check out David's amazing story at www.wearesuperman.com
The course is a flat but beautifully scenic 1 mile loop around the lake and park at Rogers Grove in Longmont. At first it sounds intimidating but all our runners love the format once they experience it. We use "staggered starting lines" to equal the official race distances and there is an aid station available for all runners every mile! So no need to worry about hydration and fuel and your friends and family will be able to camp out and cheer for you all day. The course itself is a soft dirt trail with mountain and water views at all times. You wont be disappointed and we promise you will be moved by the many amazing acts of courage out on the course each year.
