What’s Up in Ultra This Weekend — February 8

Featured: Black Canyon Ultras (Mayer, AZ)

Top ultrarunners will gather in Mayer, Arizona, this weekend as they attempt to win coveted Golden Tickets into the 2025 Western States Endurance Run. The top three male and female finishers in the 100k race will be awarded automatic entry into ultrarunning’s premier event this June. In addition to Saturday’s 100k race, Black Canyon Ultra also offers a 50k distance on Sunday. Read more.

Running Up for Air – Grandeur Peak Challenge (Salt Lake City, UT)

Featured: Los Lobos Six Hour Challenge (Kansas City, KS)

The Los Lobos Six Hour Challenge takes runners on a 3-mile loop course through Kansas City’s Wyandotte County Lake Park. Each loop features a whopping 700+ plus feet of elevation gain, meaning that to complete a 50k runners will have to navigate close to 8,000 feet of climbing and descending. For their efforts, participants will be rewarded with local pizza and cold brews at the finish. Read more.

Featured: The Algonquin 50K (Pocomoke City, MD)

Held in the Chesapeake Forest and Pocomoke State Forest on Maryland’s Delmarva Peninsula, the Algonquin 50K is an ideal race for runners looking to tackle their first ultra or attempting to set a PR on a flat and fast course. Now in its ninth year, the popular event’s mission is to “promote, maintain, and increase trails on Delmarva.” Read more.
