Featured: Run Rabbit Run (Steamboat Springs, CO)
The 13th annual Run Rabbit Run 100-mile race and 18th annual 50-mile races take place this weekend in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The 100-mile tortoises (non-competitive division) will set out at 9 a.m. and have 36 hours to complete the course, while 100-mile hares (those gunning for the $20,000 top prize that goes to the male and female winner) will set off at 1 p.m. and have 30 hours to finish. Along the way, runners will experience beautiful fall colors and spectacular mountain views in northern Colorado’s Routt National Forest, while being tested by the thin air, challenging terrain and 20,391 feet of climbs and descents. The 50-milers will start at 6 a.m. on Saturday and have 15 hours to navigate 9,000 feet of climbing. Run Rabbit Run has donated over $575,000 to non-profit and charitable organizations since 2012. Featured: Rib Mountain Trail Races (Wausau, WI)
The seventh running of the Rib Mountain Trail Races (50k ultra distance) kicks off on Saturday, September 13, in north central Wisconsin’s Rib Mountain State Park. Home to one of the oldest geological formations on earth, the billion-year-old Rib Mountain, the state park features stunning rock formations, colorful hardwoods, and challenging single-track trails where race participants will attempt to tackle three 10.6-mile loops totaling over 7,000 feet of elevation gain in under 11.5 hours. After finishing, runners will be treated to a post-race party at the Granite Peak Ski Area featuring music, food, and cold local beer. Read more.

Featured: Mountaineer Rumble 12 Hour (Clover, SC)
The Mountaineer Rumble is a low-cost 12-hour fixed-time ultramarathon that takes place at Kings Mountain State Park in Clover, South Carolina. During the race, participants will see how many 4.5-mile loops they can complete before the clock runs out. Course highlights include running on some of the park’s best forested trails, where participants will enjoy scenic views of Lake Crawford and the surrounding countryside, and be cheered on by the farm animals at the 1800s Living History Farm. The race begins at 8 p.m. on Saturday and finishes at 8 a.m. on Sunday. Read more.

The Boulder Field 100 (100k and 50k ultramarathon distances) takes place at Hickory Run State Park in the charming small town of Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, renamed in 1954 after the great athlete Jim Thorpe (the first Native American to win a gold medal for the US Olympic team). Founded in 2016, the race is held on a 50k loop course boasting 4,000 feet of elevation gain per loop. The 100k participants will have 16 hours to run two loops, while 50k entrants must complete one loop in under 14 hours. Race highlights include running in the picturesque Pocono Mountains, navigating a large boulder field referred to as the “Shades of Death Trail,” six aid stations, great finish line food and free tent camping. Featured: The Divide 200 (Alberta, Canada)
The third running of The Divide 200 kicks off this weekend at the Castle Mountain Resort in the majestic southern Canadian Rocky Mountains. Western Canada’s only 200-miler, the Divide 200 is a true mountain running test that features 12,323 meters (40,430 feet) of elevation gain and loss and takes runners on a tour of the varied landscapes of the Great Divide Trail. During the race, entrants can expect challenging and varied terrain, including river crossings, gnarly single track, bushwhacking, scrambling and remote sections that require some basic route finding. Runners have 100 hours to complete the race and earn an official finish, with the top three male and female finishers sharing in $18,500 in prize money. Read more.
