Established in 1989, Vermont 100 Endurance Run is one of the original 100-mile ultramarathons in the United States and a 2025 selection to UltraRunning Magazine’s list of Old School Ultras. In addition to the classic 100-miler, the event also hosts a 100k race, with both distances beginning in West Windsor, Vermont, on Saturday, July 19. On course, participants will set out on Vermont’s scenic back roads and trails where they’ll have to navigate unrelenting rolling hills and the likelihood of hot temps and humidity. The 100-mile runners have 30 hours to complete a course with 17,000 feet of elevation gain and descent (under 24 hours to earn the coveted “large” belt buckle), while 100k entrants must tackle 9,000 feet of climbing in under 20 hours (sub-17 hours to earn their Western States qualifier). Vermont 100 is the first ultra trail race to support visually and mobility-impaired athletes with their own running division, with all race proceeds benefiting Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sport, who aim to “empower people of all abilities through inclusive sports and recreational programming regardless of ability to pay.” Read more.
