In this week’s Ultra Weekend Recap, we feature ultramarathon race results from California, Oregon, Ohio and Tennessee. Congratulations to everyone who ran this weekend, and keep an eye on the UltraRunning Magazine race calendar as more results roll in.
Strolling Jim™
We start things off in Wartrace, Tennessee, for the 47th running of the Strolling Jim™, a classic 40-mile road race through the state’s rolling countryside. Four runners earned their coveted gold shirts for completing the race in under five hours, including the female winner, Martha Clemmer, who took the win in a speedy time of 4:58:34. Clemmer finished fourth overall and is only the fifth woman in the race’s history to crack the sub-5-hour mark. Caitlin Jones was second in 5:19:14, and Lexi Goforth (5:50:30) rounded out the podium in third. The men’s race went down to the wire with John Kruckeberg pulling away late to secure the victory in 4:44:30. Austin Pryor finished less than a minute behind in 4:45:15, and Joseph Spear came in third (4:46:36). Full results.
Miwok
Our second stop takes us to the spectacular San Francisco Bay Area trails and Stinson Beach, California, for the Miwok 100k. Colton Ransom paced the way in the men’s contest, winning in 8:47:08 while running the third-fastest time ever on the 2012+ modern course. Mario Mendoza ran to second (9:22:00), and Jacques Saarbach (9:25:54) crossed the finish line in third. Kristina Randrup led wire-to-wire to win the women’s race and break the modern course record in 10:09:16. Amy Cameron came in second and also ran under the previous course best in 10:12:30. McDonald Forest
Next, we head up the coast to Corvallis, Oregon, for another great West Coast race, the McDonald Forest 50k. The 29th running of “the Mac” saw 175 runners complete the course, with top female honors going to Theresa Fritz-Endres with a winning time of 4:49:54. Sarah Clark was the second female finisher in 4:56:06. Clara Honsinger (5:01:11) placed third. On the men’s side, James Holk ran to victory in 4:25:06. Max Jiganti finished just a minute later in 4:26:14. Jace Ives snagged the final podium spot in third (4:31:15). Full results here.
Outrun 24
Our final stop takes us to Kirtland, Ohio, for the 13th running of the Outrun 24-Hour Trail Race. The top overall performance went to Adam Armstrong, who completed 120.29 miles to earn the victory. Brian Beachy finished second with 108.26 miles, and David Snell (102.25 miles) claimed third. Chris Knapp earned her 100-mile buckle and won the women’s race with 100.24 miles. Molly Katusin ran the second-farthest with 91.22 miles. Tina Frimel (87.21 miles) came in third. Full results here.
