In this week’s Ultra Weekend Recap, we check in on North American race results from Georgia, Oregon, Virginia and Minnesota. Congratulations to everyone who raced this weekend. Be sure to check out all the results as they continue to roll in on our results page.
Cruel Jewel
We kick things off in Blue Ridge, Georgia, at the Cruel Jewel 100 (106 miles) and Cruel Jewel 50 (56 miles) races. A total of 250 participants lined up at the 100-mile starting line on Friday, attempting to complete the grueling event in under 48 hours to earn their 2027 Hardrock and Western States qualifiers.
Three masters runners swept the podium in the men’s contest, led by race winner Brian Kallhof in 25:04:28. Kevin Tiffany (25:16:06) finished just over 11 minutes back in second place, and Jamal Diboun (26:03:08) snagged third.
Rachel Doxey raced to victory in the women’s race in 27:45:53, the fourth-fastest Cruel Jewel 100 female time ever run. Doxey placed tenth overall. Catie Markesich (30:48:37) was second, and Christina Ramirez (31:52:20) claimed third.

Tillamook Burn
Our second stop takes us to the Pacific Northwest and the beautiful trails of Oregon’s Tillamook State Forest for the Tillamook Burn 50-mile and 55k ultramarathons.
Saturday’s 50-mile race saw Angela Bates take the women’s title in 10:16:13. Bates was followed by Margaret Link, who snagged second in 10:27:23. Aurore Maurin (10:28:01) finished just 38 seconds later to complete the women’s podium in third.
On the men’s side, Matthew Guarino took home the win in 7:06:58. Oscar Ponteri ran to a second-place finish in 7:25:55. Craig Gillis (7:53:56) came in third.

Massanutten
Heading over to the Massanutten Mountains in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, we check in on one of the Beast Coast’s classic 100-milers, the Massanutten Mountain Trails 100.
The 2026 edition saw 182 runners attempt to complete the rugged course under the 36-hour cutoff, led by men’s winner Andrew Simpson, who put forth a dominant performance to win the race in 18:26:17, the seventh-fastest course time since the race was first run in 1995. Graham Strzelecki took second in 20:54:39, while Derek Prosser (21:58:52) came in third.
Cali Janulis broke the tape in the competitive women’s event, winning in 23:35:34 and placing ninth overall in the eighth-fastest female course time ever. Nora Jodrey finished just 13 minutes behind her to claim second and tenth overall. Shiela Martin (25:15:02) was third.

Superior Spring Trail Race
We wrap things up in Lutsen, Minnesota, for a Midwest spring classic, the Superior Spring Trail Race. An impressive 228 of 239 starters completed the 50k course under the 9-hour cutoff, with first place in the female race going to Naomi Nelson in 5:31:00. Tara Werning ran to an F2 finish in 5:35:54. Jordan Hausladen (5:53:20) rounded out the women’s podium in third.
Kirk Dewindt crossed the line first in the men’s race in a winning time of 4:12:04. Tyler Morey (4:20:21) came in second, and Daniel Hufnagel (4:33:32) was third.
Anna Grace Tiede Hottinger won the non-binary division in 5:17:06.
