New Year’s week saw 18 North American ultramarathons on the UltraRunning Magazine race calendar, including featured events in Arizona, Alabama and Florida. Congratulations to everyone who raced this weekend, and we’d like to wish everyone a Happy New Year! Check out all the race results as they roll in on our results page.

Across the Years

Across the Years (ATY) bid farewell to 2025 and welcomed 2026 with a series of inspiring performances throughout the six-day endurance event with numerous race distances. Hosted by Aravaipa Running, ATY once again provided a stage for runners of all ages and abilities to pursue running goals and push their limits. Among the many standout efforts was the legendary Ann Trason, who decided a 50k wasn’t far enough and, despite years of battling rheumatoid arthritis, showed remarkable grit and determination on her way to earning yet another 100-mile buckle. The Last Person Standing race kicked off at noon on New Year’s Day and didn’t end until more than 48 hours later, with Michael Carson emerging as the final runner standing, completing 145 laps for a total of 204.5 miles. In the six-day event, Justin and Melissa Montague combined to run an incredible 887 miles. Justin won the men’s event with 481 miles, and Melissa took the women’s crown with 406 miles. Congrats to everyone who ended or started the year with a PR.
