In this week’s Ultra Weekend Recap, we feature race results from Montana, California, Alberta, Canada and Utah. Congratulations to everyone who raced this weekend!
Le Grizz Ultramarathon
We kick things off in Polebridge, Montana, just west of Glacier National Park, for the 44th annual Le Grizz Ultramarathon. Recognized as one of UltraRunning Magazine’s 2025 Old School Ultras, Le Grizz features a scenic 50-mile course that takes runners up to the Canadian border and back. There were 91 runners who competed in this year’s solo event, including Rosie Rigas who won the women’s race and finished sixth overall in a time of 8:08:23. Heidi Schuette was the second female and seventh overall runner across the line in 8:14:21. Mae Thorp earned third in 8:31:00 (ninth overall). Oliver Bieser raced out to the early lead in the men’s race and cruised to victory in 6:05:58. Paul Paschal finished in second (6:39:09), and Angus Parton (7:25:10) snagged the final men’s podium spot in third. Full results here.
Kodiak Ultra Marathons
Elite fields of runners lined up at this year’s Kodiak Ultra Marathons by UTMB (100-mile, 100k and 50k ultra distances), the UTMB World Series Americas Major. The 2024 men’s UltraRunner of the Year, Hayden Hawks, took home the title in the 100-mile race, running the second-fastest course time ever in 16:40:37. Joe McConaughy was the second runner across the line in 17:01:32. Columbian Jhon Barrera (17:29:53) took home the bronze in third. China’s Lin Chen won the women’s 100-miler and placed ninth overall in 19:31:17. Chen shattered the previous female course record by over 90 minutes and became the first woman to finish the race in under 20 hours. Madison Leichty placed second and also cracked the sub-20-hour mark in 19:43:59. Genevieve Harrison rounded out the podium in third (20:15:58). The top four women (including fourth-place finisher Kristi Knecht) all ran under the previous course record.

Grizzly Ultra
Crossing over the northern border, we drop in on the Grizzly Ultra, our second featured event of the weekend where runners shared the trails with North American brown bears. There were 520 runners who tossed the required bear spray into their packs and set off Saturday to complete the 50k race held at the Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park in Canmore, Alberta, Canada. Top honors in the women’s race went to Allison Blackmore in 5:11:18 (eighth overall). Paige Ingram finished second female and 10th overall in 5:12:47. Emma Fehr came in just behind in third (5:13:52). Ryan Johnson took the men’s crown in a winning time of 4:26:50. Brendan Kenny placed second in 4:29:34. Oliver Murray was third (4:33:18). Moab 240
Our final stop takes us to the red rocks of Moab, Utah for the ninth running of the Moab 240. There were 255 runners who set off on Friday to attempt the massive 240-mile loop. Unfortunately, at the time of publishing, no runners have finished the race. You can track all the runners out on the course here, including David Goggins, who is looking to complete his second 200+ mile race in just over three months.
