Featured: Gorge Waterfalls (Cascade Locks, OR)

Gorge Waterfalls 100k and 50k ultramarathons return to Cascade Locks, Oregon, April 11-12. One of the most scenic courses in the Pacific Northwest, Gorge Waterfalls takes runners on a tour of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, passing waterfalls such as Wahkeena Falls and Multnomah Falls, the most photographed waterfall in the United States.

Both races annually attract competitive fields who will compete on a mix of technical, rocky terrain, smooth singletrack and short sections of paved path. The 100k sets off on Saturday and follows an out-and-back course with around 11,000 feet of elevation gain and loss. The 50k starts Sunday at Wahkeena Day Use Area and heads back toward the finish at Marine Park.

Live on-course tracking can be found on the official race website.

The 16th running of the Forget the PR Mohican 50k kicks off Saturday at Mohican State Park in Loudonville, Ohio. The classic spring race annually attracts a strong group of Midwest ultrarunners for its old school vibe, supportive volunteers, social post race gathering and scenic trails.

On course, participants will have 10 hours to navigate a challenging loop through the park’s wooded ridgelines, steep hollows and rolling terrain. The race gets its name from the constantly changing conditions, with plenty of roots, rocks, sharp climbs, more than 4,800 feet of elevation gain, river crossings and the potential for early season mud.

All finishers receive a custom Forget the PR Mohican 50k buckle. Read more about the race here.

Texas speedsters will head to Brazos Bend State Park just outside Houston for this year’s RRCA Texas State 50k Championships, alongside the traditional 50-mile event at Brazos Bend 50. Known as one of the fastest trail courses in Texas, Brazos Bend features a famously flat multi-loop layout with smooth dirt trails, crushed gravel paths and strong aid station support, making it an ideal setting for chasing PRs or tackling your first ultramarathon.

Beyond the fast course, Brazos Bend is also known for its abundance of wildlife in the park’s wetland areas, including bobcats, foxes, deer, multiple species of reptiles and nearly 300 types of birds, plus the most well known trail companion, the American alligator.

The race begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday, and runners have 8 hours to complete a course featuring 27 miles of hilly dirt roads, 4 miles of pavement and 3,726 feet of elevation gain and loss. While the terrain itself is runnable, past participants have encountered snow, ice, rain and mud, which can make the course significantly more challenging.

Two fully stocked aid stations are located around miles 12 and 23, with an additional water stop at mile 6. Check out the Runamuck 50K Facebook page for more information.

Diez Vista 50k returns to Port Moody, British Columbia for its 28th edition. Founded by local trail runners in 1997 to showcase the epic trails around Port Moody, Diez Vista has grown into one of Canada’s premier trail races and was recognized on UltraRunning Magazine’s list of Old School Ultras for its strong local support and long history of preserving the culture of ultrarunning.

The race features an out-and-back course that starts and finishes at Sasamat Lake in Belcarra Regional Park. From there, runners navigate lush West Coast rainforest single-track around Buntzen Lake and along the Diez Vista trails, encountering rocky and rooty terrain, steep climbs and descents and more than 6,500 feet of elevation gain and loss.

Diez Vista is organized by Coast Mountain Trail Running, which has donated $570,000 to the local community through its events. Read more.
