This was a busy weekend of ultramarathon action, with 75 events taking place across North America. In this week’s Ultra Weekend Recap, we travel to Iowa, California, Oregon and Minnesota. Let’s check the results!
Our first stop takes us to Dubuque, Iowa, for the seventh annual Mines of Spain 100 (100-mile and 100k races). In the 100-miler, Mary Namestnik set a new female course record, taking the win in 22:05:23 and finishing tenth overall. Lily Medina placed second female (23:11:55), and Sara Hagement (25:55:28) took third. In the men’s race, the top three runners cracked the sub-20-hour mark, with Nathan Shaffer leading the way in 18:49:00, the third-fastest time in race history. Jacob Halstrom finished second (19:13:56), and Chad Fridley (19:34:45) ran to third. McKenna Gross (f) and Nick Pryor (m) took the wins in the 100k distance. Full results of both races here.
Heading west, we travel to Healdsburg, California, for the second running of the California Fall Classic (100k and 55k events). On the men’s side, Kevin Steward took the lead early and never looked back, winning in 9:59:30 (the third-fastest course time). Connor Rosenblatt finished second (10:39:24), and Nick Reshetnikov (11:13:43) rounded out the podium in third. On the women’s side, Charlotte Cox was victorious in 12:22:27 and eighth place overall. Aude Hofleitner finished second (12:50:50), and Erica Jennison (13:38:40) snagged third. Winners in the 55k race included Pauline Loulier (f) and Matthew Seidel (m). Full results of both races here.
Up in Prospect, Oregon, the fifth edition of the Rogue Gorge 50k saw fast times in both the men’s and women’s events. In the men’s race, two speedsters and friends from just up the road in Bend, Oregon, duked it out for the overall title, with Casey Campbell coming out on top in 3:50:55, and Max King finishing less than 3 minutes behind in second (3:53:50). Galen Hecht (4:05:32) completed the podium in third. In the women’s event, Dominique Stasulli ran the second-fastest time in race history (4:30:53) to secure the win and finish eighth overall. Carlie Penning took second and tenth overall (4:55:08), and Shiloh Mounce (4:58:37) came in just behind in third. Full results here.
Our final stop takes up to Duluth, Minnesota for the 16th annual Wild Duluth Races (100k and 50k distances), where an impressive 339 runners earned an official finish in the popular 50k race. First-place female honors went to Ericka Olin in 5:07:38. Chrissy Lofgren placed second (5:17:38), and Autum Shurbert-Hetzel (5:18:30) finished less than a minute behind in third. In the men’s contest, Benjamin Cogger cruised to victory in 4:00:51, shattering the previous course record by nearly nine minutes. Tryg Solberg claimed second (4:14:30) and Nathan Orf (4:22:31) took third. Karlie Paull (f) and Mark Hartman (m) earned the wins in the 100k distance. Full results of both races here.

Camille Herron won overall at Pumpkin Holler 100 in 14:08, also an overall CR. A successful return to her native Oklahoma after a chaotic & controversial month of online gossip.
She was flying out there and it was good to see it.
