Things are starting to slow down on the ultramarathon circuit, but we still had 38 exciting events this weekend across North America. In this week’s Ultra Weekend Recap, we check in on results from Utah, North Carolina, Virginia and Florida. Dead Horse Ultra
We kick things off at the largest event of the weekend, the Dead Horse Ultra in Moab, Utah, where a whopping 572 people completed Saturday’s 50k race, and 206 runners reached the finish line in the 50-mile contest. Top female honors in the 50k distance went to Careth Arnold, who broke the tape in 3:56:14. Arnold placed ninth overall. Maria Mihara was the second woman finisher in 4:00:12. Eva Klingbeil (4:03:16) took third.
Anders Hekkli won the men’s race for the second straight year, taking over 2 minutes off his 2024 winning time and finishing in 3:07:21. Spencer Shellberg ran to second (3:13:22), and Josh Griffin (3:20:13) came in third.

Looking Glass 100K
Our second stop takes us to North Carolina’s beautiful Pisgah Forest for the third annual Looking Glass 100K. There were 140 of the 178 starters who completed this year’s race, paced by men’s winner Cameron Brown, who won in a new course record time of 9:31:55. Ben Pare was the second man across the line in 10:20:06. Jonathan Ibach (10:30:36) came in third.
Niki Cochran shattered the women’s course record on her way to finishing first female and fourth place overall in a time of 10:47:56. Anne George was the second woman and sixth overall finisher in 11:12:38. Tara Jordan rounded out the women’s podium and placed tenth overall in 11:50:38.

Seven Trails Endurance Run
Next up, we travel to Damascus, Virginia, for the Seven Trails Ultra Festival, a 30-hour fixed time event where participants tackled as many 7.7-mile out-and-backs on the Virginia Creeper Trail as they could before the clock ran out. Eight women tied for the most laps completed, all running 13 laps and 100.1 miles. The top three women, based on finish time, included Megan Strickland in first (22:34:30), LC Rogall in second (23:44:26) and Abby McCarthy in third (25:41:16).
Only one participant ran more than 100.1 miles, and that was Dan Dingess, who won the men’s contest with 14 laps and 107.8 miles (although results show he completed the last lap after the 30-hour cutoff time). Morgan Mahn ran the fastest 13 laps in 19:20:10. Joe Link completed his 13 laps in 20:27:55.

Wild Florida Trail Run
Our final stop takes us to White Springs, Florida, for the fourth running of the Wild Florida Trail Run. There were 207 runners who completed the 50k race on Saturday, with the men’s title going to Kyle Kraeft in 3:59:52. Zachary Speno (4:17:30) was the second male and third overall finisher. Kneil Place finished third male and fourth overall (4:25:46).
Deanna Doane took over an hour off the previous female course record on her way to winning the women’s race and placing second overall. Doane ran a speedy time of 4:01:56. Nobie Clark finished second female and fifth overall (4:36:09). Emily Sutherland (4:44:37) earned the last female podium spot and placed eighth overall.
