It was a weekend for course records to be broken across the country at the Hardrock 100 and the Tahoe Rim Trail 100, plus results from the Teton Mountain Runs 50k in Wyoming and more in the July 16 Ultra Weekend Recap.
Back to Colorado this week to start off our Ultra Weekend Recap, the ultrarunning world again witnessed greatness in the form of Leadville’s Courtney Dauwalter breaking her own course record set in 2022 by 30 minutes and establishing a new counterclockwise record by over an hour in 26 hours, 14 minutes and 8 seconds at the Hardrock 100 in Silverton. She was followed by Anne-Lise Rousset Seguret out of Thorens Glieres, France, in 27 hours, 29 minutes and 55 seconds, now the fifth-fastest time. Third place went to another Leadville resident, Annie Hughes, in 32 hours, 13 minutes and 3 seconds. The men’s race saw Aurelien Dunand-Pallaz from Saint Jorioz, France, win in 23 hours and 7 seconds, slotting in as the eighth-fastest time on the course. Benant Marmissolle of Tardets Sorholus, France, came in second in 23 hours, 50 minutes and 6 seconds, and Spain’s Javier Dominguez rounded out the podium in 26 hours, 12 minutes and 1 second. At the Tahoe Rim Trail 100 in Carson City, Nevada, Nickademus De La Rosa from San Luis Obispo, California, won in 20 hours, 26 minutes and 40 seconds, a new course record. Anthony Snitker out of Monrovia, California, claimed second in 21 hours, 12 minutes and 47 seconds, and Dennis Boic from Redding, California, was third in 23 hours, 15 minutes and 7 seconds. Boic finished Western States three weeks ago. Great Britain’s Claire Walton won for the women in a new course record time of 25 hours, 18 minutes and 53 seconds, 11 years after she won the race in 2012. Roxanne Vogel from Mammoth Lakes, California, was the runner up in 26 hours, 18 minutes and 28 seconds, and Meridith Ussery from Dunwoody, Georgia, was third in 26 hours, 46 minutes and 37 seconds. Full 100-mile, 50-mile and 55k results here.
In Teton Village, Wyoming, at the Teton Mountain Runs 50k, Megan Tattersall from Jackson, Wyoming, and Molly Belk from Wilson, Wyoming, tied for the win in 7 hours, 29 minutes and 22 seconds. From the six splits provided out on course, they appear to have run the entire race together. Third place went to Diane Ortega of Draper, Utah, in 8 hours, 7 minutes and 39 seconds. Gabe Joyes of Lander, Wyoming, won for the men in 5 hours, 32 minutes and 12 seconds. Fascinating way to promote course “records” at Hardrock, clockwise or not. Next year half could start each way, with a chance of two records. Some could start at the pass, for a “high” record, others in town for a “low” record. Endless possibilities.
