Leadville 100
We start things off in Leadville, Colorado, for the 42nd annual Leadville Trail 100. This year’s event was one for the ages, with incredible course-record performances in both the women’s and men’s races. In the women’s event, Anne Flower clocked a 17:58:19 to become the first woman in race history to go under 18 hours. Flowers took over 6 minutes off the legendary Ann Trason’s previous course mark of 18:06:24 (1994) on her way to the female win and second-place overall finish. Imogen Ainsworth was the second woman across the line in 19:36:42 (seventh overall). Lea Mulligan (20:39:04) claimed third and ninth overall. In the men’s race, David Roche proved that his 2024 Leadville performance was not a fluke, winning for the second straight year in 15:12:30 and setting another course record in the process. Roche lowered his 2024 CR by 14 minutes and has now taken over 30 minutes off Matt Carpenter’s 2005 time, once believed to be the hardest record to break in ultrarunning. Justin Grunewald was the second male finisher in 18:06:34. Patrick Cade came in third (18:25:23). Full results here.
Twisted Branch
There were 122 runners who completed the Twisted Branch Trail Run 100k in Naples, New York, to earn their 2026 Western States qualifiers. First place in the men’s contest went to Andrew Simpson in 10:37:45. Benjamin Linne was second (11:06:04), and Bryan Ruggeri (12:16:49) rounded out the podium in third. Zoe Fortier was the top female performer in 14:06:51. Aislinn O’Connor ran to second (14:55:27) and Karen Benway (15:12:35) took third. Full results here.
Headlands 50k
Our next stop takes us to Mill Valley, California, for the Tamalpa Headlands 50k, host of the 2025 USATF 50k Trail Championships. This year’s men’s race went down to the wire, with the top three finishers running under the previous course-record time and separated by a mere 46 seconds. Cole Campbell was the first to break the tape in a new CR time of 3:31:43. Liam Meirow claimed second (3:32:25) and Spencer Ferguson-Dryden finished just 4 seconds back in third (3:32:29). The top three women finishers also ran under the course record, with Tayler Tuttle leading the way in the new course-best time of 4:03:05.
