The 2026 edition of the Tahoe 200 trail races saw course records being smashed and a late approval by the Forest Service which allowed for the original loop to be run. It was also a record year for the most finishers at 182 since the race’s inception in 2014. And finally, the 100k distance returned this year.

This week’s ultramarathon race calendar includes the Western States 100, The Dizzy Goat, Toxic Trail 37, Hell Hath No Hurry, and High Noon 24 Hour Trail Race.

There are no official “Rules of the Trail.” No one hands you a rulebook when you take your first step onto the dirt, and there’s no pre-race briefing where someone explains that you should always pack an extra snack or jacket, that the best climbs are for hiking and soul-searching.
