Mines of Spain
We kick things off in Dubuque, Iowa, and the Mississippi River Valley for the eighth edition of the Mines of Spain 100 (100-mile and 100k races). There were 66 runners who completed the 100-miler within the 33-hour cutoff time to earn their Mines of Spain buckles. Top honors in the women’s contest went to Tiffany Troyna who earned the female win in 22:16:00. Troyna’s performance was good for sixth overall and now stands as the second-fastest women’s time in the event’s history. Lauren Raasch crossed the line in second and eighth overall (22:39:28). Lisa Fridley (22:51:08) ran to third and tenth overall. Nick Pryor pulled into the lead on the third lap and never looked back, winning the men’s race in 19:10:14. Garrett Nelson secured second (19:28:04), and Mark Romportl (20:37:09) rounded out the podium in third.

Uwharrie
Our next stop takes us to central North Carolina for the 12th annual Uwharrie 100 (100-miler, 100k and 50k). The 100-mile runners set off on Saturday at 6 a.m. to complete five 20.5-mile “unrelenting” single-track loops totaling close to 4,000 feet of elevation gain per lap. First place in the men’s race went to Chris Merson in 22:21:20. Rhett Bolick was the second man across the line in 23:19:34. Dennis Chavez (24:29:03) finished in third. Tami Sari paced the way for the women, winning in a time of 31:43:24. Amy Adams ran to second (32:47:54), and Hanna Berghout (33:57:18) completed the female podium in third. There were 31 of the 53 starters who finished the race in under the 36-hour cutoff to earn their Uwharrie 100 buckles.

California Fall Classic
Heading west to Healdsburg, California, and the beautiful trails around Lake Sonoma, we check in on the California Fall Classic (100k and 55k ultramarathons). There were 274 runners who competed in Saturday’s 100k which featured warm temps and an out-and-back style course with over 13,250 feet of elevation gain and loss. Dia Davis came out on top in the women’s race, winning in 11:47:43 (the fastest female time on the new course). Rae Brookshire was the second woman finisher in 12:49:57. Kat Schuller (13:17:21) came in third. Kris Brown grabbed control of the lead with less than 20 miles to go and steadily increased his lead to the finish, winning in 10:04:00. Nick Reshetnikov placed second (10:27:17), and Chris Wu (10:39:22) snagged third.

Bromont Ultra
The 12th running of the popular Bromont Ultra (160k, 80k and 55k ) took place this weekend in the beautiful southern Quebec city of Bromont. There were 63 runners who completed Saturday’s challenging 160k event that featured over 6,666 meters of vertical gain. First place in the women’s race went to Fanny Girardin in a new female course record time of 23:22:41. Girardin took well over an hour off the previous course best and placed sixth overall. Véronique Drouin was the second woman to finish the 160k in a time of 27:16:39. Jeanne Soulieres (27:57:23) earned third. Phillipe Poulin ran the second-fastest course time ever to win the men’s race in 18:47:27. Jacob Couture finished just back in second 18:55:10. Sebastien Brochu (19:46:20) claimed third.

Big Dog’s Backyard Ultra
There is still a long way to go before the 2025 Backyard Ultra World Champion is crowned at Big’s Backyard Ultra in Bell Buckle, Tennessee, but we wanted to provide you with links to the live tracking and the live stream so that you can follow the action until the final two runners remain.
