Leadville, Colorado, August 21. Ryan Sandes from Capetown, South Africa won the 29th annual Leadville Trail 100, besting Dylan Bowman by 32 minutes. Sandes took the lead on the first crossing of Hope Pass at about mile 43.
Local runner Lynette Clemons was the women’s winner. Ronda Claridge overtook Andrea Metz for 2nd place with about a mile to go. There were 347 finishers within the 30-hour time limit.
