Silverton, CO, July 12. Kyle Skaggs of Glenwood, New Mexico destroyed the both the field and the course record, winning the 2008 Hardrock 100 by more than 6 hours in a time of 23:23:30.
Skaggs, 23, broke Scott Jurek’s 2007 record by nearly 3 hours. Scott Jaime of Highlands Ranch, Colorado finished second in 29:50:53 and 1998 winner Ricky Denesik of Telluride, Colorado
finished third.
Diana Finkel, 36, of South Fork, Colorado won the women’s race in 31:09:40, and finished sixth overall. Five-time winner Betsy Kalmeyer of Steamboat Springs, Colorado finished in second
place in 33:25:58. Betsy Nye of Tahoe City, California, the 2003 winner, passed Kimberly Holak of Duluth, Minnesota with a little over a mile remaining for third place.
