Hagerstown, Maryland, November 20. Brian Dumm, a former Air Force Academy distance standout, won the JFK 50 in his first ultramarathon. Dumm outpaced David Riddle of Cincinnati by one minute for the win.
Amy Sproston edged Pam Smith by 21 seconds for the women’s win. The two Oregonians live 45 miles apart in Portland and Salem, respectively, and traveled 3000 miles east to duke it out. Runners enjoyed ideal weather, crisp and 34F at the start, warming to nearly 60 by late afternoon. A total of 1136 runners started, with 892 finishing.
