RICHMOND, CALIF. (November 5, 2013) – Montrail is proud to announce a two year partnership with the Western States ® 100-Mile Endurance Run, along with the complete 2014 Montrail Ultra Cup schedule. The relationship between Western States and Montrail began in 2002, when the prestigious trail race was part of the first Ultra Cup, and Montrail has been the presenting sponsor of Western States since 2007. The Ultra Cup has increased competition at Western States, allowing the top three male and female finishers in any Ultra Cup race 50 miles and over to receive an auto-entry into the Western States Race. Applications for the 2014 Western States 100 will be accepted Nov. 9-16, 2013, and the lottery for entry into the race will take place on Dec. 7, 2013.
The Montrail Ultra Cup, the only nationwide ultrarunning points series, returns in 2014 with some of the most renowned races in North America. The six races in the 2014 Montrail Ultra Cup Series take place in Texas, California and Wisconsin. Beginning with the Bandera 100k/50k on Jan. 11 in Texas, the series finishes up with the 41st Western States 100 on June 28.
