Sylacauga, Alabama, November 5. Karl Meltzer of Sandy, Utah smashed his own course record in winning the 4th annual Pinhoti 100 by more than two hours over runner-up Joseph Czabaranek of Shalimar, Florida. It was the 31st time that Meltzer has won a 100-mile race.
Jill Perry of Manlius, New York was the women’s winner. The race was held under ideal weather, with temperatures in the 60s. There were 66 finishers within the 30-hour time limit.
