Fort Valley, Virginia, May 15. Eva Pastalkova set a new women’s record and Karl Meltzer won for the third time at the Massanutten Mountain Trails 100. Meltzer finished comfortably in front of Neal Gorman for the win, the 30th 100-mile win of his illustrious career. This also marks the 12th consecutive year that Meltzer has won a 100-mile race.
Pastalkova nudged Sue Johnston’s course record by seven minutes and won by more than three hours. Runners endured several rain showers, and some typical spring Virginia heat and humidity. Of the 195 starters, 132 finished within the 36-hour time limit.
