Dayton, Wyoming, June 21. Karl Meltzer of Sandy, Utah dominated from start to finish at the Bighorn Trail 100-Mile Endurance Run which finished here today. Meltzer won the race by more than two hours. Ashley Nordell of Mt. Baldy, California was the women’s winner, finishing comfortably ahead of Gwen Scott of Seattle. 72 runners finished the demanding course within the 34-hour time limit.
In the accompanying 52-mile event, Garrett Graubins of Lafayette, Colorado and Rebecca Wheeler of Casper, Wyoming were the winners. In the 50-km event (actually 32.5 miles), women took the top two places overall, with Joy Roe-Pachirat of Indianapolis edging Sarah Graves for the win.
