Cleveland, Ohio, September 18. Philip McCarthy and Connie Gardner posted impressive totals in winning the North Coast 24 Hour race. Gadrner narrowly missed the American record for the second time. Her total of 144.72 is the third highest total ever posted for an American woman, behind Sue Ellen Trapp’s American record 145.288 and her own 145.26 at the 2007 Ultracentric 24 Hour. Ideal weather, mostly sunny and mid 60s, and a fast loop course led to a spate of impressive performances. The race served as the USATF 24-Hour Championship.
