Willoughby Hills, Ohio, July 30. Dave James and Connie Gardner won the 5th annual Burning River 100 under steamy summertime heat. Both James and Gardner slowly pulled away from their competition throughout the race, which saw temperatures in the upper 80s and high humidity.
Jay Aldous passed Michael Owen at about mile 88 for the runner-up spot. The race served as the USATF 100-Mile championship. Of the 278 starters, 150 finished within the 30-hour time limit. Full results are available at http://www.chaneyevents.com/results%5C2011burningriveralloverall.txt
