Midway, Utah, September 10. Evan Honeyfield of Idaho Falls, Idaho pulled away from the field in the middle stages of the race to win the 32nd annual Wasatch Front 100. Honeyfield, who was second at last year’s Bear 100 in his inaugural 100 miler, held off Luke Nelson for the victory. Six-time winner Karl Meltzer was third.
Becky Wheeler of Casper, Wyoming led wire to wire for the women’s crown. The race features 27,000 feet of climb in crossing the Wasatch Front Range from Kaysville, north of Salt Lake City to Midway on the eastern slope. Much of the run is above 8000 feet in elevation, with the highest point reaching 10,450 feet elevation at the top of Catherine’s Pass at mile 78.
