Pasadena, California, July 24. Dominic Grossman and Paulette Zillmer were winners of the Angeles Crest 100. Grossman passed leader Jorge Pacheco at Newcombe Pass, mile 67, to take the lead for the first time.
Zillmer took the lead from Keira Henninger between Newcombe Pass and Chantry Flat, mile 74.5. Both Pacheco and Henninger would later drop from the race.
The race, in its 24th year, was moved from its traditional late September date to July to avoid the late-summer Southern California fire season.
