Bear Lake, Idaho, September 25. Mike Foote of Missoula, Montana pulled away from Evan Honeyfield after Cowley Canyon at mile 30 and won the 11th annual Bear 100 Mile Run. Foote broke Geoff Roes’ 2009 record by nine minutes in posting the win. Rhonda Claridge of Ophir, Colorado was the women’s winner, also breaking the course record. Claridge held the women’s lead for the entire 100 miles.
The race crosses the northern end of the Wasatch Mountains from Logan, Utah to Bear Lake, Idaho. There were 164 starters and 126 finished within the 36-hour time limit.
