Burning River 100 Mile Endurance Race adds Relay Option and Peer to Peer Fundraising

UltraRunning Magazine 03/17/2014
UltraRunning Magazine 03/17/2014

The Burning River 100 is an exciting 100 mile run held in Northeast Ohio that travels through several of the region’s most beautiful and historic areas. Starting at Squire’s Castle in Willoughby Hills, the run follows the scenic Cuyahoga River Valley Corridor through the Cleveland Metroparks, Cuyahoga Valley National Park, and Metro Parks Serving Summit County before finishing in Downtown Cuyahoga Falls.  More than just a race, Burning River is a multi-community event which recognizes the history of the past and celebrates the blazing future of the Cleveland and Akron areas.

New for 2014– Burning River is offering a relay option in addition to the solo race. Same course, same distance. Choose your team of 2, 4, or 8 people and experience a 100 mile race at a distance that is comfortable for you.

Thanks to a new partnership between Western Reserve Racing, the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP), and Cleveland Metroparks, you can now participate in northeast Ohio’s Burning River 100 by raising money for your favorite trails.

Registration fees will be waived for teams and individuals raising funds for The Cuyahoga Valley National Park’s TRAILS FOREVER Legacy Fund, or Cleveland Metroparks’ TRAILS UNITED campaign.

The constant forward motion and varied paces of a 100 mile race symbolizes the positive journey and comeback of the Cuyahoga River Valley.  And what a comeback Cleveland has made!  Join us for a portion or for the entire 100 miles, spend a few days exploring the area’s world class museums and theaters, relax on the beaches of Lake Erie, visit the Vegas worthy casinos, and enjoy fine local cuisine.   The flames of the Cuyahoga River were extinguished long ago, but the Cleveland and Akron areas are on fire!  See for yourself, sign-up for Burning River, help eRACE the past and move forward.

The 2014 Burning River 100 takes place August 2-3. To register as an individual or a team, visit www.westernreserveracing.com.  Information on peer-to-peer fundraising can be found at www.conservancyforcvnp.org and www.clevelandmetroparks.com
