Appomattox, Virginia, February 9. Holly Bugin broke the women’s course record in winning the 18th annual Holiday Lake 50K++. Bugin edged Stephanie Manny for the women’s victory and shaved 48 seconds off Leah Daugherty’s 2012 course record in the process.
Steve Slaby won overall, besting Matt Urbanski and Frank Gonzalez on the 33.6-mile course. Runners enjoyed brisk racing weather, with temperatures in the upper 20s at the dawn start, warming to the mid-40s by early afternoon. There were 327 finishers within the 8-hour time limit.
