Midway, Utah, September 8. Jeff Browning and Emily Judd were the winners at the 33rd annual Wasatch Front 100. Browning, who won the San Diego 100 in course record time in June, pulled away from George Grygar on the climb over Bare Ass Pass at mile 57 and steadily widened his lead to the finish.
Judd waged a fierce battle with Sarah Evans, with the lead changing hands several times and neither runner ahead by more than a few minutes. Judd didn’t take the lead for good until Rock Springs aid station at mile 87, and pulled away on the nasty downhill through Pot Bottom to win by 28 minutes.
Paul Terranova of Austin, Texas finished in 23:17 and posted the fastest cumulative time in the 2012 Grand Slam of Ultrarunning (Western States, Vermont, Leadville and Wasatch).
Runners were treated to ideal weather, with sunny skies and relatively mild temperatures prevailing throughout.
