Gills Rock, Wisconsin, October 22. Zach Bitter posted the fastest 50-mile time in the US for 2011 with a 5:26:52 win at the Door County Fall Classic. Bitter, a 25-year-old teacher from Marinette, Wisconsin, won the race by 48 minutes, averaging 6:33 per mile, despite running into a slight headwind on the point-to-point course. Alisha Damrow of Menasha, Wisconsin was the women’s winner in 6:57:22.
