For the November 5 Ultra Weekend Recap we’re covering results from Team USA at the IAU 50k Road World Championships in India, the Pinhoti 100 in Alabama, the Rio Del Lago 100 in California and more.
The IAU 50k Road World Championships were held in Hyderabad, India, on Saturday, November 4. Andrea Pomaranski from Wolverine Lake, Michigan, led Team USA to a silver medal by finishing in second place with a time of 3 hours, 19 minutes and 7 seconds. Melissa Tanner from Baltimore, Maryland, finished 11th in a time of 3 hours and 27 minutes as the second scorer for the team, and Ildiko Gaal out of Raleigh, North Carolina, finished in 3 hours, 33 minutes and 37 seconds, good for 15th place. Carla Molinaro of Great Britain won the race in 3 hours, 18 minutes and 23 seconds, and Great Britain’s Sarah Webster came in third in 3 hours, 20 minutes and 7 seconds. Provisional results here. In the men’s race, Adam Vadeboncoeur was Team USA’s top finisher in 11th with a time of 2 hours, 56 minutes and 20 seconds. Spain swept the podium with three of their runners finishing within 2 minutes of each other. Chakib Lachgar Latrache was the leader in 2 hours, 48 minutes and 20 seconds. At the point-to-point Pinhoti 100 in Sylacauga, Alabama, Andrew Higgins from Birmingham, Alabama, appears to have won a hotly contested final push to the finish line in 22 hours, 8 minutes and 31 seconds. Christopher Mixon from Jackson, Mississippi, finished less than a minute back in 22 hours, 9 minutes and 10 seconds and David Sullivan out of Comming, Georgia, was third another 36 seconds later in 22 hours, 9 minutes and 46 seconds. Madalyn Nones from Corvallis, Oregon, won for the women in 23 hours, 20 minutes and 13 seconds. Porter Burgess of Charleston, South Carolina, was the runner-up in 23 hours, 33 minutes and 11 seconds, and Shannon Sumerfield hailing from Birmingham, Alabama, rounded out the women’s podium in 24 hours, 11 minutes and 46 seconds. The Rio Del Lago 100 was held in Granite Bay, California, on Saturday. Rachel Entrekin of Los Angeles, California, won the women’s contest in 19 hours, 16 minutes and 6 seconds. Second was Danielle Snyder from Bend, Oregon, in 21 hours, 32 minutes and 23 seconds, and third was Lindsay Kasow out of Temecula, California, in 21 hours, 52 minutes and 27 seconds. Greg Miller from Half Moon Bay, California, won the men’s race in 17 hours, 22 minutes and 35 seconds. Daven Oskvig, traveling all the way from Amherst, New York, finished in second place with a time of 18 hours, 44 minutes and 51 seconds, and Even Cerick of Huntersville, North Carolina, was the third male across the line in 19 hours, 16 minutes and 7 seconds.
