For our May 6-7 Ultra Weekend Recap, we have results from the Cocodona 250 in Arizona, Miwok 100k in California, Strolling Jim 40-miler in Tennessee, Tillamook Burn 50-miler in Oregon and more.
At the third annual Cocodona 250 which started in Black Canyon City and ended in Flagstaff, Arizona, Michael McKnight of Smithfield, Utah, avenged his runner-up finish from 2022 and won in 69 hours, 41 minutes and 31 seconds. He was followed by Josh Perry of Leeds, Great Britain, who ran 70 hours, 57 minutes and 52 seconds, and Michael Greer out of Peoria, Arizona, who rounded out the men’s podium in 72 hours, 47 minutes and 7 seconds. Fourth overall and first woman was Sarah Ostaszewski from Flagstaff in 72 hours, 50 minutes and 27 seconds. Aliza Lapierre of Richmond, Vermont, was leading late in the race and held on for second place in 77 hours, 4 minutes and 14 seconds. Third went to Mika Thewes of Lakewood, Colorado, in 78 hours, 27 minutes and 13 seconds. Check out the full results here.
Starting and finishing in Stinson Beach, California, on Saturday, May 6, the Miwok 100k treated runners to cool and foggy conditions most of the day with a bit of rain at the start. Sarah Clark from Missoula, Montana, won for the women in 10 hours, 54 minutes and 10 seconds. She was followed by Andrea Stofko of Salt Lake City, Utah, in 11 hours, 14 minutes and 50 seconds, and Madison Hart out of nearby San Francisco took third in 11 hours, 34 minutes and 42 seconds. Zachary Sonoga from South Lake Tahoe, California, won in 9 hours, 26 minutes and 2 seconds. Hugo Robas of Berkeley, California, was the second male in 9 hours, 49 minutes and 45 seconds. Thomas Kean of Bellingham, Washington, ran to third in 9 hours, 51 minutes and 30 seconds. Full results here.
The 45th annual Strolling Jim™ 40-miler in Wartrace, Tennessee, saw Dan Green from Huntington, West Virginia, win by a large margin in the race’s tenth-fastest time ever in 4 hours, 18 minutes and 48 seconds. Green was followed by the women’s winner Allison Mercer of Atlanta, Georgia, in 4 hours, 57 minutes and 11 seconds, the fourth-fastest time ever for women on the course. In the men’s race, second place went to Joseph Spear also of Atlanta in 4 hours, 58 minutes and 11 seconds, and third place went to Zac Wilson out of Signal Mountain, Tennessee, in 5 hours, 6 minutes and 6 seconds. 51-year-old Traci Falbo from Sellersburg, Indiana, was the second woman with a time of 6 hours, 24 minutes and 35 seconds. Rounding out the women’s podium was Jennifer Clayton of Franklin, Tennessee, in 6 hours, 45 minutes and 27 seconds. Full results here.
In Tillamook, Oregon, at the Tillamook Burn 50-miler, Lotti Brinks from Boise, Idaho, won and set a new course record for the women while coming in second-place overall in a time of 7 hours, 52 minutes and 20 seconds. In the women’s race, second place went to Rachel Hawkins of Glide, Oregon, in 8 hours, 31 minutes and 4 seconds, and third place went to Barrett Gray out of Seattle, Washington, in 8 hours, 34 minutes and 18 seconds. Portland’s Mack Robertson won for the men in 7 hours, 45 minutes and 13 seconds, followed by Alex King of Trout Lake, Washington, in 7 hours, 52 minutes and 23 seconds, and third went to Casey Weinman from Eugene, Oregon, in 7 hours, 57 minutes and 16 seconds.
