There are no huge race results in this week’s Ultra Weekend Recap, but plenty of awesome small events to cover, from the David’s Trail Endurance Run in Arkansas to the Wilson Creek Frozen in Idaho to Go Short, Go Long, Go Very Long in Oklahoma and more.
In Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the Go Short, Go Long, Go Very Long 50k we saw three women in the top five including first and second overall. Jenna Henry out of Webb City, Missouri, dominated the day in 4 hours, 8 minutes and 4 seconds, with Bonnie Branson of Edmond, Oklahoma, not too far back in second overall in 4 hours, 11 minutes and 47 seconds, and Mandy Hall from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, in third (and fifth overall) with a time of 4 hours, 41 minutes and 9 seconds. David Theriot from Owasso, Oklahoma, took the men’s title in 4 hours, 11 minutes and 57 seconds. Michael Dunn of Leavenworth, Kansas, was the runner-up in 4 hours, 32 minutes and 54 seconds, and Austin Cotner from Tulsa, Oklahoma, rounded out the podium in 4 hours, 43 minutes and 27 seconds. The men’s podium at the Wilson Creek Frozen 50k in Melba, Idaho, on Saturday, January 21, was swept by Boise residents. Michael Postaski won in 4 hours, 24 minutes and 37 seconds. Anythony Jacobs finished in second in 4 hours, 36 minutes and 35 seconds, and Jose Cervantes took third in 5 hours, 27 minutes and 54 seconds, just 2 seconds ahead of fourth place. Jessica Barker from La Grande, Oregon, won the women’s title in 6 hours and 2 minutes, Laura Thompson of Boise, Idaho, came in second in 6 hours, 12 minutes and 17 seconds, and Elizabeth Hingley, also of Boise, finished in third in 6 hours, 16 minutes and 24 seconds. Mountain Home, Arkansas, played host to David’s Trail Endurance Run 50k on Saturday. Jessica Tuell from Fayetteville, Arkansas, was the women’s champion in 7 hours, 2 minutes and 32 seconds, with Meg Duke of Collierville, Tennessee, finishing as the runner-up in 7 hours, 7 minutes and 53 seconds, and Tracy Ward hailing from Bryant, Arkansas, taking third in 7 hours, 48 minutes and 53 seconds. Wesley Hunt of Roland, Arkansas, won the men’s contest in 4 hours, 42 minutes and 38 seconds, Rudy Martinez from Nixa, Missouri, finished second in 6 hours, 15 minutes and 51 seconds, and Jacob White of Ashland, Missouri, was third in 6 hours, 19 minutes and 23 seconds. The 13th running of the NC Fatass 50k is this Saturday, January 28th at Camp Millstone in Ellerbee, NC.
