The results have rolled in from Aravaipa’s Desert Solstice Track Invitational in Arizona, the Lookout Mountain 50-miler in Georgia and the Woodside Ramble 50k in California for our Ultra Weekend Recap.
In Phoenix, Arizona, at the Central High School Track, a small, but talented field took to the 24-hour contest at the Desert Solstice Track Invitational on Saturday. Leading the way for the women was Megan Alvarado from Springfield, Virginia, with 106.6 miles. Sierra DeGroff of Las Vegas, Nevada, slotted in as the runner-up with 100.2 miles, and Darce Smith of Hayden, Idaho, finished in third place with 47.2 miles. In the men’s race, local runner Scott Traer won by a commanding margin with 161.3 miles. Jimmie Strahorn from Camp Verde, Arizona, finished in second place with 113.3 miles, and Garrett Nelson of Madison, Wisconsin, rounded out the men’s podium with 101.2 miles. At the 15th Lookout Mountain 50-miler in Lookout Mountain, Georgia, Seth Wall from Waynesboro, Virginia, took the overall title in 9 hours, 2 minutes and 21 seconds. James Brooks of Decatur, Georgia, finished just over 2 minutes back in 9 hours, 4 minutes and 34 seconds, and Ryne Anderson out of Knoxville, Tennessee, came home in 9 hours, 18 minutes and 50 seconds for third place. Leading the pack for the ladies was Shannon Wheeler Deboef from Hixson, Tennessee, in 10 hours, 31 minutes and 30 seconds. She beat Jaclyn Noshay out of Minneapolis, Minnesota, to the line by a mere second. Noshay finished in 10 hours, 31 minutes and 31 seconds. Third place wasn’t far back either. Sophie McDonald from Cornelius, North Carolina, clocked a time of 10 hours, 38 minutes and 45 seconds. We have the full results in our database here.
Across the country in Woodside, California, racers tackled the Woodside Ramble 50k on Saturday. Katie Beebe from Portland, Oregon, came out on top in the second-fastest time the course has ever seen in 4 hours, 28 minutes and 50 seconds. Phoebe Crosthwaite of Stanford, California, came in second place in 4 hours, 50 minutes and 19 seconds, and Kathryn Dickmann out of Broomfield, Colorado, was third in 5 hours, 1 minute and 39 seconds. Henri Romero Patricio from San Bruno, California, won the men’s contest in 4 hours, 25 minutes and 45 seconds. Runner-up honors went to Oleksandr Skorokhod from Atherton, California, with a time of 4 hours, 31 minutes and 12 seconds. Rounding out the men’s podium was Robert Kehoe from Golden, Colorado, in 4 hours, 38 minutes and 50 seconds. Full results when available here.
