For our Ultra Weekend Recap this week, we have new course records from a point-to-point 100-miler in Oregon, a 40-mile mountain race in Colorado, a 50k in New York and more.
Traveling from Bend to Sisters at the Oregon Cascades 100, both course records were broken this weekend. For the women, Lindsey Hagen from Bend broke her own course record she set in 2022 by 6 minutes, finishing in 19 hours, 40 minutes and 37 seconds. Runner-up honors went to Eva Gifford of Rossland, British Columbia, in 20 hours 59 minutes and 16 seconds, and third place was Evie Tate out of Missoula, Montana, in 21 hours, 48 minutes and 25 seconds. Taking down the men’s course record was Davis Cutter coming all the way from Amsterdam, Netherlands. He chopped over 30 minutes off the previous best and finished in 18 hours, 1 minute and 4 seconds. Brooklyn’s Travis Hawkins took second and also came in under the previous course record in 18 hours, 13 minutes and 40 seconds. Zach Eagle from Indianapolis, Indiana, rounded out the men’s podium in 18 hours, 42 minutes and 18 seconds. Check out the full results here.
Flying east to Colorado and the 40-mile Telluride Mountain Run on Saturday, we saw both the men’s and women’s winners post the second-fastest times in the course’s short, three-year history. For the men, Grant Barnette of Salt Lake City, Utah, ran 8 hours, 30 minutes and 44 seconds to seal the victory. He was followed very closely by Tate Knight out of Boulder, Colorado, in 8 hours, 34 minutes and 57 seconds, and local runner Spencer Keating in 9 hours, 3 minutes and 49 seconds. Another local runner, Tessa Chesser, won the women’s race in 10 hours, 13 minutes and 21 seconds. Second place went to Kylee Drugan-Eppich from Lafayette, Colorado, in 11 hours, 16 minutes and 6 seconds. Chesser and Drugan-Eppich were the only two women to finish the race. Full results when available here.
Continuing east we land in Fayetteville, New York, for the Green Lakes Endurance Runs 50k. Lisa Mackenzie of North Syracuse, New York, age 53, won for the women in 5 hours, 21 minutes and 4 seconds. Second place was secured by Emma Lape out of Syracuse, New York, in 5 hours, 33 minutes and 51 seconds, and the last spot on the podium went to Wendy Abbott from Rochester, New York, in 5 hours 44 minutes and 7 seconds. Shawnee Hills 100-Mile (Illinois) ran into some flash floods after mile 90. I believe the 100 was cancelled and everyone was credited with 100K finishes instead.
