This weekend look towards some smaller, yet fun ultras in places like Montana, Georgia, Nevada, Texas and California.

As trail runners, we often forget that the land we traverse is rooted in history with trails used and maintained by generations of Indigenous cultures. Those untouched areas still exist but are much harder to find. In North America, there is land within the territory of the 657,745 acres of Mount Edziza Provincial Park in beautiful northwest British Columbia.

New to the Scarpa lineup this winter, the Ribelle Run Kalibra G is presented as an “all-weather, all-terrain juggernaut of a trail runner.” Scarpa has essentially taken the bones of the Ribelle Run shoe and winterized it. In doing so, they have created a much lighter-profile workhorse to tackle snow and ice compared to a bulky pair of spikes and gaiters strapped to regular trail shoes.
