Headlining What’s Up in Ultra on our UltraRunning Calendar this weekend, is unquestionably the fabled HURT 100 in Hawaii, along with a much faster 100-miler in Arizona, a long-time running 50k in the Pacific Northwest and an illustriously icy 50k in Illinois, among many others.

Jeff Browning is ninth in the 2022 UROY voting. This marks the seventh time that Browning has notched a top-10 ranking in the annual UROY vote. At 51, he becomes the oldest male to ever be included in the UROY awards.

Riley Brady is the 10th ranked female for 2022. Riley identifies as non-binary (but was born female and races in the female division) and works as a mechanic for Trek. They won four races during the year – three of them outright – and placed a close second at the Javelina 100.

Welcome back to our Ultra Weekend Recap, the first of 2023. After a relatively quiet couple of holiday weekends in ultrarunning, we saw the first Golden Ticket race of the year arrive on Saturday, along with a classic California 50/50 and more results from across the country.
