Huntington, New York, March 4. Joe Gray of Newcastle, Washington and Shanna Ailes Istnick of Kent, Ohio were crowned the 2012 USATF National 50K Champions at the 10th annual Caumsett 50K.
Gray pulled away from defending champ Michael Wardian after the first 10 kilometers and won handily. Ailes Istnick led wire to wire for the win. The weather was chilly, around 40F, and the runners were hampered by gusty winds.
