In this week’s Ultra Weekend Recap, we feature ultramarathon race results from Texas, British Columbia, Canada, Wisconsin, Colorado, and Oregon. Congratulations to everyone who raced this weekend, and be sure to check out all the results on the UltraRunning Magazine results page.
Habanero Hundred
Our first stop takes us to Cat Spring, Texas, for the state’s “hottest footrace,” the Habanero Hundred (100-mile, 100k and 50k ultra distances). In the 100-mile race, German Garcia was the first runner to complete the 16 (10k) loops to secure the men’s title and overall win in 20:16:56. Andrew Hill was the second finisher in 21:07:52. Thierry Joffrain (21:59:39) came in third. On the women’s side, Alyssa McClellan (22:36:52) ran a speedy second half of the race to come from behind and earn the female win and fifth place overall. Amanda Marszalik came in just over a minute later in 22:38:09, good for second and sixth overall. Nancy Gutierrez (27:23:00) took third.

Black Spur Ultra
Next, we travel up to beautiful Kimberley, British Columbia, Canada, for the 10th edition of the Black Spur Ultra (108k and 54k ultramarathon races). The 108k female race was dominated by Phoebe Cseresnyes who won in the second-fastest women’s course time ever of 14:29:42. Cseresnyes placed fourth overall. Second place female honors went to Heather Tuckova in 16:32:10. Emily Rudow finished third (16:59: 52). Andy Collin raced to victory in the men’s race, crossing the line in 12:45:36. Nathan Taylor (13:42:18) took second, and Steve Voison rounded out the men’s podium in third (13:53:53).

Midwest States 100
Heading to Westboro, Wisconsin we check in on the third running of the Midwest States 100 (100-mile, 100k and 50k races). In the 100-mile event, Timothy Adamski finished first place male and first overall in a new course-record time of 22:56:58. Nichola Steel ran to second (23:21:59), and Austin Kawleski claimed third (23:26:34). Sarah Krebs won the women’s race in 31:58:57 and was the only female finisher.

Continental Divide Trail Run
Our final stop takes us to Steamboat Springs, Colorado, for the 10th annual Continental Divide Trail Run 50k. There were 120 runners who completed this year’s race which featured a new female course record by women’s winner, Kristina Mascarenas in 4:36:04, who also placed fourth overall. Jenna Bensko finished second woman and fifth overall in 4:50:38. Brianna Costigan (5:11:25) came in third. Michael Mitchell won the men’s contest and finished first overall in 4:18:44. Anthony Lee was second (4:22:46), and Steven Cornelius (4:32:38) completed the in third. Full results here.
Oregon Cascades 100
Unfortunately, the Oregon Cascades 100-miler had to be halted mid-race and was canceled due to wildfire smoke and poor air quality from the nearby Flat Fire. Three runners completed the full course before the race was stopped (William Conner 17:07:51, Kyle Peterson 19:47:21, and Scott Davis 20:56:09). Results from the 50-mile race here.
