In this week’s Ultra Weekend Recap, we highlight results from Oregon, Pennsylvania, Alaska and Maryland. Be sure to check out all the results on the UltraRunning Magazine results page. Let’s get to it.
Kicking things off in Elkridge, Maryland, we’re wondering how the temperatures faired at the MD Heat Trail Race 50k. With a total of 46 finishers, Britt Arnold finished first in the women’s race and fifth overall in 5:33:14. Emily Hanson came in second in 6:00:18, and Rachel Wood finished third in 6:07:55. In the men’s race, Patrick Blair crossed the finish in 4:32:54. Tyler Gray came in second in 4:53:52, and Travis Nevins rounded out the podium in third in 5:10:32. Full results here.
Over in Waterville, Pennsylvania, Eastern States 100 saw a total of 133 finishers. Men’s race and overall winner, Michael Busada, finished in 22:30:27. In second place, Alec Cline finished in 23:16:36, and in third, Gabriel Batdorf crossed the finish just 20 seconds later in 23:16:57. In the women’s race, Justyna Wilson finished first and fourth overall in 24:49:36. Marissa Kovach finished second in 27:10:19, with Carre Zatwarnytsky finishing in third in 27:46:14. Heading to the West Coast in Juneau, Alaksa, the Nifty Fifty 50k saw Caitlyn Fleischman come in fourth overall to win the women’s event in 5:49:15. Steph Wilson came in second woman in 6:35:30 with Solveig Erngren finishing third in 6:48:24. In the men’s race, Clem Taylor-Roth came in first in 4:27:51, with Ian Novak coming in second in 5:26:01. Third place went to Garrison Field in 5:32:35. Full results here.
Down the coast in Government Camp, Oregon, the Wy’east Trailfest 50k saw Jackson Cole win the men’s race and finish first overall in 4:24:14. Eric Lagerstrom came in second in 4:44:34, and Hunter Nichols came in third in 4:55:04. In the women’s race, Heather Jackson finished first and fifth overall in 5:20:41. Kristina Randrup finished second in 5:33:56, and Ellie Taylor took third in 5:49:23.
In the 50-mile event, Madison Hart came in first woman and fourth overall in 9:58:41, with Jennifer Britz finishing second in 11:27:18. Third place went to Holly Hirsch in 11:33:36. In the men’s race, Case Vander Ploeg finished first overall in 8:58:09. Nathaniel Helfferich took second in 9:37:47, and Connor Arnell finished third in 9:48:42.
