For our September 17 Ultra Weekend Recap we’re highlighting a 100-miler in Colorado, a mountainous 50k in Montana and the North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletic (NACAC) 50k championships in Canada.

At the Run Rabbit Run 50 and 100 Mile Endurance Runs in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, $75K  worth of prize money was on the line in the 100-mile “hare’s” division starting on Friday, September 15, and finishing on September 16. Dave Stevens from Slocan Park, British Columbia, snagged his second win at the race in 3 years and clocked the second-fastest time ever in 17 hours, 22 minutes and 36 seconds. Jimmy Elam of Big Cottonwood, Utah, the recent winner and new course record holder at the High Lonesome 100 ran the fourth-fastest time ever in 17 hours, 45 minutes and 28 seconds. Moving up all day was Massillon, Ohio’s Arlen Glick, who rounded out the podium in 18 hours, 43 minutes and 10 seconds. Tara Dower from Virginia Beach, Virginia, ran the race’s third-fastest time in 20 hours, 32 minutes and 21 seconds. Kristi Knecht out of Mammoth Lakes, California, posted just the sixth sub-21-hour time at the race in 20 hours, 53 minutes and 54 seconds to finish in second place. Third place went to Karen Holland of Kimberley, Ontario, in 22 hours, 14 minutes and 30 seconds. Elam and Dower combined to win the team competition. Check out the full results here.

In Big Sky, Montana, at the Rut Mountain Runs 50k Jennifer Lichter from Missoula, Montana, won in 5 hours, 34 minutes and 58 seconds, the first sub-6-hour result for women in the course’s history, although it was re-routed and skipped the summit of Lone Peak this year. Runner-up honors went to Kristina Trygstad-Saari of Bozeman, Montana, in 5 hours, 45 minutes and 5 seconds, and completing the women’s podium was Klaire Rhodes out of Anchorage, Alaska, in 5 hours, 50 minutes and 41 seconds. Michelino Sunseri from Driggs, Idaho, dipped under 5 hours for the first time in the race’s history, taking the title in 4 hours, 59 minutes and 32 seconds. Second was Tyler Fox out of Lander, Wyoming, in 5 hours, 25 minutes and 24 seconds. Third was Tyler Courville from St. Ignatius, Montana, with a time of 5 hours, 28 minutes and 19 seconds. Dive into the full results here.

Heading north to the Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park and Beaver Flat 50k, we find results for the NACAC Mountain & Trail Running Championships on Saturday, September 16. Chris Balestrini from London, Ontario, won and set a new course record in 4 hours, 11 minutes and 25 seconds. He was followed by Adam Sjolund out of Flagstaff, Arizona, in 4 hours, 30 minutes and 47 seconds, and third place went to Miguel Ángel Pérez Alvarado from Mexico in 4 hours, 35 minutes and 38 seconds. In the women’s contest, Sarah Biehl of Boulder, Colorado, demolished the course record en route to winning in 5 hours, 10 minutes and 26 seconds. Shannon Penway of Vancouver, British Columbia, came in second place in 5 hours, 21 minutes and 37 seconds, and Seattle’s Kristina Randrup rounded out the podium in 5 hours, 30 minutes and 27 seconds. Team USA won both the men’s and women’s team gold medals. Find the full results here.
