Sausalito, CA, May 4. Dave Mackey shattered the course record at the highly-competitive Miwok 100K race in Marin County, California on May 3. The Boulder, Colorado resident finished in 7:53:19, more than
16 minutes under Lon Freeman’s 2007 record. Modesto, California’s Jon Olsen finished second, more than a half-hour later. Jeff Roes of Alaska finished third, with seven-time Western States champ Scott Jurek fourth.
Kami Semick of Bend, Oregon successfully defended her women’s title, cruising to a 9:15:50 time. Beverley Anderson-Abbs of Red Bluff, California was second and another Bend runner, Prudence L’Heureux, was third.
The race, held on hilly trails in the Marin Headlands and Mount Tamalpais State Park, drew a record 318 starters. 288 finished within the 16 1/2 hour time limit.
