Katie Schide is the 2nd-ranked woman in the voting for World UltraRunner of the Year. With a win at the Madeira Island Ultra-Trail 115k in Portugal as well as a course record win at the Hardrock 100 in July, she continued her streak when she came in first at the Long Trail race (82k/50.9 miles) at the World Mountain and Trail Running Championships in Spain. Her debut at Hardrock culminated in a winning time of 25:50:23 – the first sub-26-hour finish for a woman in the race’s 33-year history.
