As the three-day weekend winds down tomorrow, we’re still getting in results from ultras all over North America. Here’s a few from California, Maine, Ohio and Pennsylvania, to start our Ultra Weekend Recap.
At the 16th annual Nanny Goat 6, 12, 24-hour and 100-miler on a private horse ranch in Riverside, California, the 1-mile dirt loop saw a lot of folks run some serious mileage this weekend. In the 6-hour event, Chiara Gelinas and Allysa Jones tied for first female with 40 miles each, while Jon Torrijos came in first for the men with 45 miles. In the 12-hour race, Jake Jackson took the win for the men by clocking 77 miles. For the women, Anne Braggins finished in first with 63 miles. After 24 hours, Chris Futterer finished with 110 miles and took the overall win for the men. Julie Putjenter finished 83 miles in 24 hours, earning a win for the women. Finally, in the 100-mile event, Alex Magill finished first in 20:07:26 for the men, while Melanie Boone finished as the first female in 22:26:11. Find results for all distances here.
In New Gloucester, Maine, at the Trail Festival at Pineland Farms 50k, Colleen Sands finished first in 3:53:41. Christin Doneski (4:25:03) came in second and Jody DiCicco (4:53:56) finished third. In the men’s race, Ryan Morrison took the win in 3:30:06. Adam Schwendt (3:42:59) and Kevin Eastler (4:12:00) took second and third, respectively. In the 100k, Lila Gaudrault finished first female in 8:51:52, with Ying Tao (11:16:23) taking second and Deirdre Lowe (12:12:38) coming in third. On the men’s side, Michael Scarlett finished first in 8:40:49, with Davis Cutter just 5 minutes behind in 8:45:14, taking second. Adam Britten took third in 11:06:33. Full results here.
Further south at the Fools Trail Race 50k in Peninsula, Ohio, Heath Goshorn won for the men in 3:47:16. Second place finisher was Tyler Cathcart in 4:45:17, and third went to Matthew Palmer in 4:58:56. For the women, Angie Darbyson came in first female and fourth overall in 5:09:49. Marciann Kleinhenz was just 3 seconds behind to finish in second and fifth overall in 5:09:52. In third was Amber Merulli in 6:36:59. In the 50-mile race, Virginia Bibb-Golden finished in first and third overall in 11:05:48. Susanne Park finished second in 12:23:17. In the men’s race, Mike Duma finished first in 9:14:45, while Luke Payne came in second in 9:40:46. In third was Derek Quinn, who finished with a time of 12:00:26. Full results here.
At the Bubbletown What the Duck Ultra in Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania, Shawn Cissel finished in first with 46 laps of the 1.4192-mile loop and a total distance of 65.28 miles. Nicholas Bodner came in second with 42 laps and 59.6 miles, and third was Joe Trace with 40 laps ad 56.76 miles. In the women’s race, Janina Simmons finished 41 laps and 58.18 miles for the win and third overall. Sami Eisenhofer finished second female and 37 laps and 52.51 miles, while Jill Hazelton completed 36 laps and 51.09 miles for third. Full results here.
