This month, HOKA is launching Women Who Fly, a film series that features three runners—Ultrarunners Devon Yanko and Catra Corbett, and triathlete Shirin Gerami—and their stories: about running, sexual assault, addiction and religion. Each short film documents the spirit and resilience of these remarkable women, as well of the ability of endurance sports to change lives and empower people in any circumstance.

Each film is directed by Joris Debeij, an award-winning filmmaker based in Los Angeles whose work has been shown at SXSW and the Sundance Film Festival. His debut television documentary called Invisible Cities received an Emmy Award in 2014.

“Women Who Fly was born of our belief that what makes us run is what makes us human. Shirin, Catra and Devon inspire us with their supreme dedication and strong will,” says Wendy Yang, President of the Performance Lifestyle Brands at Deckers. “With these films, we share their stories and how running has played an important role in their development as humans. As an athlete, I can relate. At HOKA, we believe in the power of running and every runner.”
