Sausalito, California, August 9. Nathan Yanko of San Francisco, running his first 100-miler, was victorious at the hilly Headlands Hundred held in the Marin Headlands across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco. American River 50 Race Director Julie Fingar of Folsom, California won the women’s race. The race featured four laps of a very hilly course (more than 20,000 feet of climb) and was held under ideal weather conditions, with mild temperatures and intermittent coastal fog.
Eldrith Gosney of Suisun, California finished the race at age 68, becoming the oldest woman 100-mile finisher in several years. 45 of the 58 starters finished within the 33-hour time limit.
In the accompanying 50-mile run, Josh Brimhall and Prudence L’Heureux were the victors.
