Over 51 ultramarathons took place across the US and Canada this weekend. Let’s jump right to the action with the Ultra Weekend Recap.
We start in Forksville, Pennsylvania, for the challenging Worlds End Ultramarathons (100k and 50k races). In the 100k event, 118 runners completed the course in under 19 hours to earn their Western States qualifier. The first-place female title went to Mackenzie Nolan who ran the third-fastest course time to win in 13:50:49 and finish eighth overall. Karen Dunn followed in second (14:40:00 and tenth overall) and Shannon Cebron took third (15:03:33). In the men’s race, Trevor Fye was victorious in 11:39:24, with Enrik Mundt claiming second (12:05:25) and Craig Winters placing third (12:55:07).
In the 50k distance, there were 141 finishers. Dean Banko claimed the overall win in 5:30:47, with Colin Gibbons taking second (5:52:32) and Tim Pfluger finishing third (5:55:40). For the women, Katie Bicksler took top honors winning in 6:12:31 (fifth overall). Emily Fisk finished second (6:16:10 and sixth overall) and Zoe Fortier came in third (6:18:10). Full results here.
Heading south, we journey to Damascus, Virginia, for the Dam Yeti 50-mile and 55k races. Shannon Howell led the way for the women in the 50-mile event, finishing in 7:15:09 and placing third overall. Erica Broadbent took second (8:26:51 and eighth overall), finishing just one second ahead of Jennifer Halls (8:26:52 and ninth overall). In the men’s race, David Compton brought home the win in 6:32:51, beating out second-place finisher Lee Whitaker (6:46:50) and third-place male, Brian Vermillion (7:50:35).
In the 55k race, Lee Jarvis ran the third-fastest course time, winning in 3:54:58. Alex Ball finished second male in (4:56:53) and Danny McCormick claimed third (5:02:01). On the women’s side, seven runners placed in the top 10 paced by race winner Amy Watson who set a new course record and finished second overall in 4:17:21. Linda Boring took second (5:04:52 and fifth overall), and April Bailey finished out the podium in 5:13:02 and placed seventh overall. Full results here.

Next, we head southwest of Denver in Pine, Colorado, for the 14th running of the North Fork 50-mile and 50k races. The 50-miler saw 78 runners cross the finish line ahead of the 14-hour cutoff time, led by Jim Rebenack who took the win in 7:22:00 (the third-fastest time in course history). Sam Beal placed second in 7:52:59 and Christopher Sobie took third (7:57:07). On the women’s side, Ellen Cannon cruised in just under the 9-hour mark, securing the win in 8:59:32. Violetta Laputsina finished second (9:23:36) and Mj Engel claimed third (9:30:29).
There were 158 runners who completed the North Fork 50k race, with top female going to Colleen Noonan who ran the second-fastest course time ever, winning in 4:38:36 and finishing seventh overall. Zoe Rom placed second (4:45:59 and eighth overall), and Brier Youngfleish took third (4:53:38 and tenth overall). In the men’s race, Ryan Sullivan shattered the previous course record, winning in a blistering time of 3:42:52. Nico De Vries finished second (also running under the previous course best in 4:00:29) and Matthew Urbanski claimed third (4:0545). Full results of both races can be found here.
Our last stop is in Sheridan, Indiana, for the fourth running of the Full Mo, a fast point-to-point 50k race benefiting the Multiple System Atrophy (MSA) Coalition. In the men’s race, Cory Kirkham shaved 14 minutes off his previous course record, winning in 3:17:27. Andy Cowen placed second (3:31:28 and third-fastest course time) and Hayden Nagel finished third (4:00:00). On the women’s side, three speedsters finished in the top six overall, led by Paige Woods who ran the second-fastest time in course history in 3:54:16 (third overall). Caitlin Walsh took second (4:00:30 and fifth overall), and Lindsey Welty rounded out the podium in third (4:05:24 and sixth overall). Full results here.
Other results from the weekend include the Smith Rock Classic (Terrebonne, OR), Cape Mountain (Florence, OR), Crater Trail Run (Decorah, IA), Spence Mountain Run (Klamath Falls, OR), Three Sisters Ultra Festival (Maryville, TN), and Black Mountain Monster (Black Mountain, NC).
As a side note, we don’t yet have the full results of the Old Dominion 100 yet, but we do know that John Kelly won in 15:44:49, the third-fastest time in the race’s 45-year history. Congrats to everyone who raced this weekend and stay tuned as more results roll in.
